The name of my little food biz. I whent through tons of ideas but thefoodhug was one of the first names that was thought of and just found myself returning to it over and over again.
I think it sums up the style of food we’ll offer really well (comfort food) and hopefully in some way portrays the uniqueness and individuality that’ll be expressed in everything we’ll do.

So we’ll be serving the working people of Bedford made on the day soups and other food as soon as everything is done and ready (aiming for mid May)

What happens to the high street when I can buy those same things online and get it delivered the same day for the same price or less?

Consider that Amazon are growing at 30% a year and adding a further 3 new fulfilment warehouses to the UK in 2011. How many will it be in 2012? 5? 10?

Its seams pretty inevitable that Amazon will get to the point when they have enough fulfilment warehouses to cover same day deliveries to most areas of the UK right?

Now I don’t know about you but I can easily imagine seeing Amazon vehicles in every major town and city making there multiple daily deliveries. And when I can buy the things I dont like buying but need to buy, and buy them for the same price or less and have them delivered that same day… that’s going to change the way I shop.

And much like the years surrounding the world wars the high street wont be filled with shops that sell rubbish and have poor customer service but instead will be filled with people that are focused on not only your overall experience but also on your relationship to that company and that store.

It pretty clear that most people and businesses are just getting comfortable with the internet’s lively injection into our lives over the past 10 years but I think the next 10 years might just be the most exciting. When the internet and its diverse array of offerings is available both in one click (mobile payments) and can be delivered the same day… that’s going to make huge ripples to the way a lot of people shop.

Emptyage: Generation X Doesn't Want to Hear It

Emptyage: Generation X Doesn't Want to Hear It:

Looks good, will be interesting to see how they make a service like this competitively priced/ cheap enough for every day use.
The UN’s first ever report on the state of childhood in the industrialized West made unpleasant reading for many of the world’s richest nations. But none found it quite so hard to swallow as the Brits, who, old jokes about English cooking aside, discovered that they were eating their own young.

According to the Unicef report, which measured 40 indicators of quality of life – including the strength of relationships with friends and family, educational achievements and personal aspirations, and exposure to drinking, drug taking and other risky behavior – British children have the most miserable upbringing in the developed world. American children come next, second from the bottom.
